Ética laboral y cómo se da en psicología / Work ethic and how it manifests in psychology

Hay cosas que son muy importantes en la vida y que tienen que ver con nuestra formación como profesionales, con nuestros valores y con la manera en que aplicamos nuestra sabiduría para con otras personas, poniendo nuestra marca laboral en las distintas historias que a lo largo de nuestra carrera tendremos.

En este sentido, hay responsabilidades que nos corresponden y hay otras que debemos exigir, y para explicar esto mejor haré lo mismo que hago con los pacientes que son menores de 18 años que veía en mi consulta durante la pandemia, donde les mostraba una presentación con los derechos y deberes del consultante. Por una parte, al profesional le corresponde otorgar un buen servicio, velando porque estén las condiciones básicas (una conexión a internet disponible, una cámara y micrófono que funcionen, etc.) y que estas se cumplan, mientras que por parte de quién es paciente debe ocuparse de buscar un lugar con la tranquilidad y seguridad necesarias para tener la sesión, además de conectarse a la hora y avisar si necesita algún tipo de ayuda de un adulto.

Por último y lo más importante, el profesional debe cobrar por su trabajo y hacer las boletas respectivas, como así también cuidar al paciente con lo que le cuente (secreto ético), poniendo límites si lo que le informan arriesga la vida de otros y/o de la propia persona (aplica tanto para niños, como adolescentes y adultos). Nuestro compromiso con lo que hacemos es vital para acompañar a otros a sanar, a recuperarse y a volver a disfrutar el vivir de la mejor manera posible, ¡Se puede!

There are things that are very important in life and that relate to our professional development, our values, and how we apply our wisdom to others, leaving our professional mark on the various stories we encounter throughout our careers.

In this sense, there are responsibilities that fall to us and others that we must demand. To better explain this, I'll do the same thing I did with the patients under 18 I saw in my practice during the pandemic, where I showed them a presentation outlining the rights and responsibilities of the client. On the one hand, the professional is responsible for providing good service, ensuring that the basic conditions are met (an available internet connection, a working camera and microphone, etc.), while the patient is responsible for finding a quiet and safe place for the session, connecting on time, and notifying the professional if they need any assistance from an adult.

Finally, and most importantly, professionals must charge for their work and issue invoices, as well as protect the patient's confidentiality (ethical secrecy), setting boundaries if the information shared could endanger the lives of others and/or the patient themselves (this applies to children, adolescents, and adults alike). Our commitment to our work is vital to helping others heal, recover, and enjoy life to the fullest. It is possible!
